Videative License/Price PolicySingle User License Each videative has a published price in the eStore catalog. This price gives the purchaser the right to use the videative in workshops, lectures, and conferences when the purchaser is present at the event. This price does not give the purchaser the right to distribute the videative to others, either for a class assignment or an online course. For rights to so distribute, the user needs to purchase a distribution license. Distribution License Anyone wishing to distribute a videative needs to purchase a distribution license for a cost of $25.00 per videative. This is a one-time fee that gives the purchaser the right to distribute to others who are under the direct supervision of the purchaser, i.e. students in a course, participants in a workshop, students in an online course directed by the purchaser. This license does not allow the licensee to distribute the videative to colleagues or others not under the direct tutelage of the licensee. Such open distribution will be considered a violation of copyright protection. Institutional Rate for Videatives Restrictions: Given that libraries and government agencies (henceforth "institutions") loan resources to multiple faculty and students, Videatives, Inc. will use the distribution rate of $25 per videative for institutional purchases. Any person who is given access to the videative by the institution may make a single copy of the videative (e.g. download) but may not otherwise distribute the asset. Institutions must exercise due diligence to prevent one distribution license from propagating a videative across multiple tiers of users (e.g to faculty, then to students). Case Example: The following would be considered a violation of the distribution license. University X places a videative on the university server and grants access to this videative to multiple faculty members on campus. The faculty members in turn grant access to the videative on the university server for all of their respective students. Point: A single distribution license may not be used to cover multiple courses by multiple faculty. Nor should the videative be available for distribution to students at large. Solution: The university can grant access to multiple faculty as single user licensees (see "single user license " above), but if a faculty member wants to distribute the videative in a course, the faculty member would have to purchase a one-time distribution license for him or herself (see "distribution license" above). Thus the videative can be distributed to students only through the portal of a faculty member or agency employee who has purchased a distribution license for instruction under his/her personal supervision.
